Preparing for the Event...

Like clockwork, I come home everyday between 5:30 and 5:45 and every day the same show is being watched by my lovely bride. What is this magical show that captivates her unblinking eyes? The worlds most complicated and painful births where almost every child has something wrong with them. You too can watch this show, Babies: Special Delivery, on the Discovery Health channel. Why does somebody who is less than a week away from her due date watch this nightmare inducing show? I have no idea, and I'm sure that most of you men reading this don't have any clue either, and that is why us men will never understand the bizarre woman. If it were up to me (or if I was the one giving birth) I would steer so far from these shows that I think the whole Discovery Health channel would be blacklisted from my cable box. As long as this show makes her happy and doesn't scare the living bejesus out of her I guess I can live with it.

You should all see the massive amount of food that we now have stockpiled in our house. Apparently Jenn is concerned that we will all starve once Junior gets here. For the past two plus days she has been a non-stop cooking machine. We have everything from Shepperd's Pie to a 5 Alarm Chili. I don't think that we will have any shortage of food until the kid starts grade school. The best news is that while Jenn is out of commission recovering, I'll still eat well and be able to maintain my wonderful girlish figure!

Looking forward we just have a few things left to do to be 100% ready to rush off to the hospital.

  1. Have Jenn pack her bag.
  2. Jenn needs to pack her bag.
  3. A bag needs to be packed for the hospital containing Jenn's things.
  4. Wes needs snacks to eat while Jenn is in Labor (That is what the vending machines are for, right?).
  5. Prepare a "Go Bag" for the things that Jenn will need in the hospital.
Other than those 5 things I think we are ready to have this child here. The crib for our room has been assembled, the diapers have been ordered, the nursery is decorated, and the toys have been tested. All that is left to do is count the days. Wish us luck.

So, do you think it's time to pack a bag maybe? Knowing Jennifer, it may not be packed, but she's ready!! And, as long as you have a roll of quarters Wes, you'll be able to dine quite nicely when there's time!!!

Wes, if the whole computer job thing goes south perhaps you can write comedy for the TV shows. Or become a stand up comic!
I happen to understand Jenn's draw to that show. There is nothing in this world as wonderful as a new baby. Love you oodles, Mom
